Destiny 2's Dawning Arrives Fresh Out Of The Oven

It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, with the most underwhelming activity returning to Destiny 2—the Dawning.

Every year Bungie brings in the Dawning as a winter wonderland-themed event; however, this year it is even more chilling that we will be delivering cookies yet again.

This time there is a seasonal weapon up for grabs, the Void Fusion Rifle Glacioclasm. And look, I am not disappointed that this isn’t a Stasis weapon being rewarded in a winter-themed event, but wouldn’t it have been cool if it was.

Glacioclasm is set to drop with multiple random rolls. However, Fusion Rifles are one of the least used weapon classes in the game and so far this one does not seem that special.

This year Bungie did add a new twist to the Dawning that finds us working together as a community to unlock even more rewards. It seems as players deliver cookies across the universe, we will be progressing a community pursuit that will award items such as Upgrade Materials.

The best part of any seasonal event is typically the armor and like usual, it seems that this set will be tied directly to the Eververse store, unfortunately not being able to be obtained directly from any kind of in-game activity.

Other than armor you can expect to find some special holiday ornaments for your favorite weapons in Eververse and Ghost Shells dressed up for the event.

I can’t help but remember the first Dawning of Destiny 2, where we had Snowball Fights and Ice Hockey. Sure it was annoying to be frozen in the tower frequently but it was at least fun to hit a couple Vex with snowballs and laugh.

I think right now, Destiny could use some community games and activities that aren’t needlessly dropping off cookies to watered-down NPC’s in the tower. Hopefully, soon we will see more added in seasonal events than just purchasable armor and underwhelming weapons.
