It hardly feels like Modern Warfare 2 has been out for almost a year. The fact that we already have talks about a new Call of Duty game is both overwhelming and exciting. Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming has confirmed Call of Duty 2023 will be titled Modern Warfare 3.
Sledgehammer games is making a new sequel to the game and naming it Modern Warfare 3. Like those Charles Dickens novels, the story took a dramatic turn here. Initially, there was mass reporting and confirmation about the Franchise taking a year off. Talks were about a new DLC, refreshing things and adding content to the MWII title. However, things really changed.
The latest iteration of the game will be a brand new game title, Modern Warfare III. The game will feature its own large Warzone map, campaign, multiplayer, zombies and a new first season. According to the reports, these updates will be out on December 5, 2023. Modern Warfare III will be in the stores by November 10, 2023.

The Las Almas map users play in the Modern Warfare 2 campaign mode will become Modern Warfare 3’s Battle Royale map. The zombies game mode will be called Outbreak 2.0. Activision is still deciding whether Outbreak 2.0 should be a part of the premium title or not.
Here are the key dates from Insider Gaming's report:
- Beta weekend 1 (PS4/PS5) – October 6, 2023 – October 10, 2023
- Beta weekend 2 (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S/PC) – October 12, 2023 – October 16, 2023

It's too early to judge what Activision are doing, but they very well know their position isn't the strongest. We can trust and be grateful for the healthy competition.
