VCT EMEA Ascension: DAY 5 RECAP

All the action from VCT EMEA Ascension DAY 5

The last day of the VCT EMEA Ascension Group Stage saw some exciting matches and surprising upsets. Here's a recap of the fifth day of the competition.

RECAP

Digital Athletics 2-0 DSYRE

Despite being knocked out of the competition, Digital Athletics kept fighting for pride and a respectable placement in Ascension. Digital Athletics defeated DSYRE without dropping a single map, winning the first map, Haven, 13-9 and the second map, Fracture, 13-11. With this defeat, DSYRE is out of the competition, leaving SAW and Acend as the two teams advancing to the next stage of the competition. Both Digital Athletics and DSYRE have shown their metal and proved that the competition can be intense and close even against the favourites of EMEA.

Team Falcons 1-2 APEKS

APEKS managed to secure a flawless run in the Group Stage of Ascension. Defeating Gentle Mates, FOKUS, CASE and now Team Falcons. Team Falcons have shown some potential throughout the tournament, defeating CASE Esports and almost winning against FOKUS. However, APEKS are the clear favourites of this competition, and this win just proves it further. APEKS won the first map, Lotus, in 13-2 and the second map, Ascent, in 14-12. With this defeat, Team Falcons are out of the competition, and APEKS advance to the LAN in Berlin.

FOKUS 2-0 CASE Esports

This was CASE's last chance of getting a win in the competition, but CASE failed at doing that. FOKUS took the advantage of CASE's shattered mental and stomped them. Both teams were eliminated, so this game was just pure entertainment and fun to watch. FOKUS won the first map, Haven, 13-3 and the second map, Fracture, 13-11.

ACEND 2-0 SAW

SAW and Acend both proved to be in contention for a spot in EMEA League, with SAW being more favorable than Acend according to fans. However, Acend shut that down and dominated SAW. Acend was at risk of getting eliminated, since DSYRE had the Head-to-Head advantage, and if DSYRE did win Digital Athletics and Acend lost to SAW, it would've meant that SAW and DSYRE advance together. Which explains Acend's elevated VALORANT level against SAW. Acend won the first map, Split, 14-12 and the second map, Lotus, 13-11. With this win, both SAW and Acend advance to the LAN in Berlin.
