Valorant Dev Shares Behind-the-Scenes Look at New Melee Skin Animation, Players aren't Thrilled with the Price

Episode 6 Act 3 of Valorant is launching on April 25 and with it comes new skins, designs, Gunbuddies, and cards in the Radiant Entertainment System set. However, while all of those additions are exciting for players, one of the most sought-after inclusions is a new melee option, but it all has players conflicted.

The upcoming new melee option looks quite cool and comes in one of three fashions, one of which looks like the Energy Sword from Halo. It works like the knife slash animation but instead, characters will attach a boxing glove to their fist and beat their opponents to death. A video posted by Principal Animator Billy Vu Lam shows just how the animation was put together.

The video shows Vu Lam actually punching with a boxing glove as a test for the animation. The next shot shows rough in-game footage of the animation before it switches again to show the final footage that will appear in the game. It's the behind-the-scenes look that players are enjoying, however, what they aren't excited about is just how much the new melee and its bundled skin set reportedly costs.

While it's not officially released or confirmed by Riot Games yet, leaks from @ValorLeaks have noted the price for the new Radiant Entertainment System. Players are concerned the melee skins will cost 5,950VP while the bundle for everything will be 11,900VP. That's quite a lot of Valorant Points. Converting that to US dollars comes to more than $50 for the melee set and more than $110 for everything. Whether true or not, that would make it the most expensive bundle in the game's history.
