Season of the Chosen trailer has given us new hints about upcoming Stasis Aspects

Stasis subclasses are about to get a serious upgrade.

A new trailer for Season 13, now confirmed as Season of the Chosen, has dropped as well as a new information page going live on Bungie.net. While the purpose of this trailer is to give a brief overview of what is to come to Destiny 2 during the Season, it also gives us a few hints as to what new Stasis Aspects Guardians might soon be able to get their hands on.

In an interview last year with Polygon, Destiny 2 Game Director Luke Smith mentioned that Bungie currently has plans to add more Stasis Aspects to the game but did not share any more concrete details. Smith simply stated “Our intention is to add more”.

It seems these new Stasis Aspects will be coming sooner than we thought as according to the Season of the Chosen roadmap, the quests to unlock these new Aspects will be available when the Season launches on February 9.

There are no further, definitive details on these new Aspects but small gameplay clips shown during the Season of the Chosen trailer do give us enough to speculate what kind of upgrades these Aspects could bring.

Remember, before getting into this, this is all speculation. This could all end up being correct, or very wrong. In any case, it’s always fun to dissect and discuss this kind of thing.

Hunter Aspect

At 1:17 in the trailer a Hunter is seen activating the Silence and Squall Super. When the first kama is thrown it seems to act normally but the second kama bounces between enemies, shattering them. Now, this could simply be a really odd edit in the trailer and the Hunter is actually just using the Stasis shuriken ability, but the enemies and location are the same between both shots. If this is indeed an Aspect changing the second part of the Silence and Squall Super then it does seem odd to change it to a function that is already present within the Stasis Hunter kit. Admittedly, this one is up in the air.

Titan Aspect

At 2:00 in the trailer a Titan is seen using a Stasis attack animation that isn't currently present within the game. The Titan in the clip jumps in the air and raises both fists above their head in preparation for a huge ground slam to shatter the Stasis crystal below. While in mid-air it looks like a bunch of small Stasis shards are being sucked into the area around the Titan’s fists.

Could this be the new Aspect granting a huge area of effect slam to the Titan Super?

Now this next bit is really hard to confirm, but in this same clip it looks like the Titan could possibly be forming this Stasis crystal while in mid-air. The crystal seems to come in to frame way too quickly when using the ground as a reference point. Way too quickly to just be the panning of the camera.

Could the new Titan Aspect grant an ability to launch into the air, create a huge Stasis crystal while in mid-air, and then slam to the ground, shattering the crystal and any nearby enemies?

Warlock Aspect

A second or two after the above Titan clip there is a Warlock using an unusual ability. The ability doesn't look like any of the other subclasses as it has the classic blue glow of Stasis. It can't be the usual Warlock melee ability Penumbral Blast as this ability summons a Stasis staff to cast it from. All the other Stasis grenades are over arm throws whereas this ability seems to be an across body throw, similar to the Voidwalker grenades.

Could the new Warlock Aspect grant some kind of special cast to the Stasis grenades?

At the moment that’s really all there really is to go on. These new Stasis Aspects sure do seem interesting though and it will be a blast to see how they shake up the meta.

Season of the Chosen launches on all platforms February 9.
