Scump nets $17,000 in Twitch subs on first stream since CoD retirement

It looks like Scump is going to be perfectly fine focusing on content.

Scump outperformed the official Call of Duty broadcast on his return to streaming and made some serious cash in the process!

Considered by many to be the Call of Duty GOAT, Seth “Scump” Abner announced that he would no longer be competing in the CDL earlier this week. If you haven’t seen his goodbye video yet, I dare you to watch it without shedding a tear.

Fans already knew this would be his last year in the league, but a stressful start to the season and roster drama in the OpTic camp led him to step down earlier than planned.

What a stream!

Don’t worry though, the king isn’t going anywhere. Scump will be staying at OpTic and putting all his effort into content going forward.

This started with a viewing party for Friday’s CDL matches – but it wasn’t just any viewing party. Abner streamed from a professional studio setup, joined by OpTic Gaming owner Hector Rodriguez and Marcus "MBoZe" Blanks.

Scump viewing party stream

The stream peaked at over 92,000 concurrent viewers, and consistently held more eyeballs than the official Call of Duty broadcast. According to esports news personality @JakeSucky, Scump earned almost $17,000 from Twitch subscriptions alone, all in less than five hours on camera.

Scump will be live again for today’s matches, and said he has some big ideas for future content that he can’t discuss yet. It’s really interesting to hear one of the best players ever break down the action live, so definitely try to catch the next viewing party.

OpTic looking strong

To add to the occasion, Scump got to see the new OpTic Texas line-up win their first series together. Shotzzy, Illey, Huke, and Dashy took down Seattle Surge 3-2, showing promising signs as a unit.

New OpTic roster beat Seattle Surge

The OpTic team were solid in Search & Destroy and Control, but Hardpoint let them down. This is largely due to Dashy needing time to learn the new spawn system and shouldn’t take too long to rectify.

They face Toronto Ultra next, which is sure to be a tough matchup. A victory here would have the Green Wall feeling super confident going into Major II Finals.
