Players Will Soon Have a New Way To Drop Into Apex Legends With Apex Legends: The Board Game

Apex Legends goes tabletop.

Apex Legends is doing rather well for itself. Over the past few years, the game has grown exponentially with new updates, more players, and the addition of nearly 20 seasons. The latest add-on for the first-person shooter comes in the form of a board game of the same name.

What is the Apex Legends: The Board Game?

Apex Legends: The Board Game is a hero shooter that can be played by two to four players or solo play. It'll play out pretty close to the video game it's inspired by. While you won't rely on a screen to play as you would in Apex Legends for consoles of PC, you'll construct your own modular maps to run around in.

Matches begin with players dropping into the map and placing their minis in a position. Just like the video game, the map will get smaller and smaller as turns go by, reflecting the shrinking zone that forces you to move around on screen. You start out by choosing a Legend to play as and each Legend has their own abilities and skills. Wraith can teleport and Bloodhound can use Beast of the Hunt. Upon landing on the battlefield, you'll find loot chests, weapons, and upgrades just as you would in Apex Legends.

What heroes are in the Apex Legends: The Board Game?

The Core Box will include four Legends to choose from. You'll be able to choose either Wraith, Bloodhound, Bangalore, or Gibraltar. Expansions, such as the Full Team Expansion, will feature characters Lifeline and Pathfinder and expand gameplay from four to more players. Whereas,  Squad Packs I and II will add Caustic, Mirage, and Octane, and Crypto, Revenant, and Wattson.

When does the Apex Legends: The Board Game release?

The board game is being crowdfunded through Kickstarter and does not have an official release date. Though, the Kickstarter is set to end on June 7. You can monitor the game and all of its updates by following the Kickstarter announcement or Glass Cannon Unplugged’s social media page. It went live on May 17 and hit its $244,491 goal the day it got put up.

Apex Legends: The Board Game is an officially licensed game being developed by Glass Cannon Unplugged and Electronic Arts.
