New Job Role Indicates Valorant is Getting Ready for Console Release

The wait is almost over. Valorant console version is on its way.

Riot Games, the developers behind Valorant, has recently posted a job opening for an Associate Console Playtest Analyst on their official website. This suggests that the company is currently working on bringing Valorant to consoles, which at present is exclusively available on PC.

The responsibilities of this role, as outlined in the job description, include testing console features and content prior to release, providing valuable feedback to developers, and ensuring stable and functional console builds. They are looking for candidates with console testing experience, knowledge of Valorant gameplay and mechanics, and excellent communication skills.

Furthermore, the job posting mentions that the chosen candidate will be joining the “Console Playtest Team”, indicating that there is a dedicated group actively working on developing Valorant for consoles.

This isn’t the first time Riot Games has hinted at a possible console adaptation of Valorant. In an interview conducted in June 2020 with Anna Donlon, executive producer of the game, she stated that they were “definitely prototyping” a console version but added that its release was not yet confirmed. Introducing Valorant to consoles could potentially broaden its player base as well as offer a unique gaming experience for console players.

However, there are also significant challenges and inquiries regarding how this transition will affect various aspects of gameplay, such as maintaining balance between agents and weapons, implementing cross-play and cross-progression features effectively, as well as addressing optimization and performance concerns.

Riot Games has not officially announced or confirmed the console version of Valorant yet, so it is unclear when or if it will be released. However, the new job posting indicates that the company is actively working on it and may reveal more details in the future.
