New Leaks Related to Blizzard Entertainment's Upcoming Survival Game

Microsoft-based News Site Shares Information About Project 'Odyssey'

Blizzard Entertainment, makers of World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and the upcoming ARPG, Diablo IV, have been working on a new Survival game, codenamed Project Odyssey. While this game has been in development for nearly six years, there have been recent leaks that suggest that this new project might be nearly completed.

Blizzard's newest IP will be a Survival game, codenamed 'Odyssey'

The recent leaks have potentially confirmed some previously unknown details about Blizzard’s newest IP. Project Odyssey is expected to be a multiplatform game, playable on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. But with the recent interest of Microsoft in acquiring Activision Blizzard, some are theorizing that Microsoft could opt to make Project Odyssey an Xbox- and PC-exclusive title.

Based on these leaks, we learned that Odyssey will be a first-person game and share a cartoonish stylized aesthetic, similar to the upcoming action-adventure game ‘Everwild’. As with many recent games within the Survival genre, Odyssey is also expected to feature a large emphasis on base-building, where players can have a reprieve from enemies and store their belongings.

'Odyssey' will share a similar visual aesthetic to the upcoming Unreal Engine 5 game, 'Everwild'

However, it should be noted that none of this information has been officially confirmed by Blizzard Entertainment, as all of this information is based on leaks from a Microsoft news website. Players are anticipating an official announcement of Project Odyssey’s features and possible release date at either the Xbox Games Showcase on June 11th or during Blizzard Entertainment’s upcoming BlizzCon 2023. Odyssey will be Blizzard Entertainment’s first new IP in over seven years, since Overwatch’s release in 2016.
