New Destiny 2 'Exotic Archive' teased ahead of Beyond Light release

Bungie finally answers the community’s questions about how vaulted Exotics will be earned in Beyond Light.

In the last ‘This Week at Bungie’ blog post before the release of Beyond Light the community has been given their last look at some upcoming changes present in the expansion before they will be able to get their hands on it themselves.

Some of these changes are fairly minor but there are still quite a number of additions that are very welcome to the game. There is even one change that the community has been asking for for over a year now.

Quest Archive

Currently, if you accidentally delete a quest from the quest tab, or maybe on purpose to free up room, and then decide you want to continue this quest, you actually have to make your way back to the same vendor you received the quest from. This can be quite the task as with all the quests in the game it can be difficult to remember where they all come from. You either have to do a loop of the Tower until you find the right vendor, or a quick Google search to find the answer.

This will soon be a thing of the past as Bungie is introducing a ‘Quest Archive’ into the Tower. This archive will be located next to the Postmaster and will contain all the quests the player has started but not yet seen through to the end. Additionally, this archive will also contain the New Light Quest in the Cosmodrome for veteren players to take on.

Exotic Archive

When Bungie first announced that certain destinations and their rewards would be entering the Destiny Content Vault when Beyond Light releases, a big question on people’s minds was how would these vaulted rewards be obtained in the future. Bungie assured the playerbase they were working on a solution and it seems they have found one.

The ‘Monument to Lost Lights’ Exotic Archive will be placed in the Tower next to the Vault kiosks on November 10th. This archive will contain various Exotics and Legendary Pinnacle/Pursuit weapons that were once available through quests tied to vaulted content. Purchasing these Exotics will require a decent amount of Glimmer, destination materials, Masterworking materials and an Exotic Cipher or Ascendant Shard.

A new form of currency will be introduced to the game when Beyond Light releases that can be used at this Exotic kiosk. ‘Spoils of Conquest’ can only be earned by completing raids but can then be turned in to the kiosk to purchase Exotics from vaulted raids. Essentially, this means a player can run the new raid in Beyond Light a number of times and then turn the Spoils of Conquest in to purchase Anarchy.

More Sandbox/Misc. Changes

A fair amount of the sandbox changes teased in the TWAB were fairly minor but there are a few that are quite significant.

Trials of Osiris:

  • Trials of Osiris Power level requirement increased to 1210
  • Added ADEPT weapons and weapon mods to Flawless chest rewards

The addition of Adept weapons is something the community has been asking for since Trials of Osiris was reintroduced in Season of the Worthy. All the info about these weapons can be found here.

Player Identity:

  • Login screens now have a dark background
  • Updated the full-screen menus to have a dark background style

Another popular change. There have been many social media posts over the years complaining about the bright menus and how they tend to almost blind those playing in a dark room late at night. As someone who uses ‘dark mode’ on every app that has it available this is a welcome change.

Sandbox:

  • Traveler’s Chosen now has reduced muzzle flash intensity
  • Increased Point of the Stag’s (Iron Banner Pursuit Bow) Max Power Level to 1310.
  • Fixed a bug with Divinity that prevented some weapons from dealing precision damage to the Divinity cage.
  • Increased Hunter’s Dodge cooldown by a few seconds. E.g. Dodge cooldown for Tier 4 was originally 22 seconds, new cooldown is 26 seconds.

The Hunter Dodge nerf is a huge change. A Hunter who is maxing out Mobility will have their Dodge available again in under 10 seconds upon using it. Combine this with the invisibility granted from the Nightstalker subclass plus the WormHusk Crown Exotic and Hunters are incredibly difficult to take down. This higher cooldown won't ruin the build mentioned above but will ensure it’s somewhat less frustrating to play against.

  • Anti-Barrier rounds will now penetrate Taken Phalanx shields.
  • All Anti-Champion mods have been shifted to armor, rather than taking a weapon slot.

This is another huge change that changes the entire meta of Nightfall: The Ordeal runs. Previously, very few Exotic weapons could be used in The Ordeal, except Eriana’s Vow, as they do not have a mod slot and so could not take the Unstoppable, Anti-Barrier, or Overload mods that other Legendary weapons could. This change simply adds a ton of diversity to loadouts for The Ordeal, which is never a bad thing.
