Icebox Is Being Removed From Valorant’s Competitive Map Pool

Icebox is leaving Valorant’s competitive map pool as Bind is returning to the game.

In the latest update from Riot Games, the game developers have announced that Icebox, which was introduced in the game last year, will be leaving the competitive map pool shortly, making way for Bind’s return on April 25. If you weren't aware, Bind was last seen in the game in Episode 2, Act III.

While Bind is set to make a comeback with Episode 6 Act III, the departure of Icebox from the competitive and unrated queue map rotation is a significant change. As a result, players will have to wait for some time before they can play on Icebox again.

Now, fans might be eagerly awaiting further details on Riot's plans for this map and whether it will undergo any changes before potentially returning to the map pool.

It is common for maps to undergo minor changes and return to the active pool after being removed. Split and Bind have already undergone this process, and Icebox will likely follow suit.

However, some players are unhappy about Icebox being removed from the map pool, including FNATIC Derke, a skilled Valorant player who expressed unhappiness via his most recent Tweet.

In the meantime, Riot has also announced that players will have the chance to get familiar with the new version of Bind before its official release. These changes will be implemented live in all modes except Competitive and Unrated in patch 6.07. Additionally, players will be able to test out the changes in the Valorant patch 6.07 PBE from April 7th to 10th.

Overall, this significant change is expected to shake up the competitive meta of Valorant, as the removal of Icebox will provide an opportunity for teams to experiment with different strategies and approaches on the remaining maps.
