Fortnite Patch 28.01.01 - All You Need To Know!

Fortnite has just rolled out the v28.01.01 update, which brings significant changes to movement and various game modes. The patch notes for the update were revealed during a server downtime that began at 4 a.m. ET on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.

Movement Changes

With the introduction of Fortnite Chapter 1, there were changes to the movement mechanics that received a less than enthusiastic response from players. Despite the visually appealing animations, the pacing felt sluggish and negatively impacted gameplay. In response, Epic Games initially increased the movement speed, but it appears that the adjustment did not meet players' expectations.

According to HYPEX, further improvements have been made to the game's movement mechanics. In particular, crouching and running speeds have been increased. There's also a reduction in camera movement when sprinting, which contributes to a smoother sprinting view. As part of these changes, everyone's custom diagonal movement settings have been reset.

• Reduced camera movement and refined view-switching when sprinting for a smoother experience.

Battle Royale Bug Fixes

• Society medallion icons are more visible on the map
• Brightened some dark spots on the map at night
• Thunder Burst SMG & Frenzy Auto Shotgun now visually different
• Flowers now grant more shield.
• Damage increased on Ranger Pistol, Shield Breaker EMP, and Ballistic Shield Pistol.
• Shield Pistol.
• The mag size of the Snowball Launcher has been reduced.
• Thunder Burst SMG increased mag size.
• Reaper Sniper Rifle drop rate reduced.
• Striker AR deals less damage.
• Reduced size of circle indicating Society Medallion holder.
• Society Medallions now have a short delay before shield regeneration begins. They also have slightly reduced regeneration rates and will no longer replenish 100% shield (unless you have all five).have all five).

Visual Fixes

• New Burst SMG and Auto Shotgun appearance changes.
• Society Medallion appearance changes.

Other Gamemodes

Fortnite Festival:

• You can now restart songs.

Rocket Racing:

• Work is underway on incremental improvements to help players get into their races faster.
• Car-on-car collisions have been a major concern among players, especially when a bump from behind spins the car 180 degrees. Today's update makes those collisions less punishing, aiming to keep the player's car facing the finish line.
• The Reach Gold rank in the Rocket Racing Quest to unlock the Jackie Outfit was initially rewarding players for reaching Gold II instead of Gold I. Epic has patched this, so now racers who have achieved Gold I only need to complete one full race to fulfill the quest and receive the Jackie Outfit.
• Crash mechanics have been improved.

Lego Fortnite

Furthermore, food will now be more fulfilling, meaning your LEGO Fortnite character won't get hungry too often. The current patch includes additional fixes to the game, listed below:

• Fixed a bug that might have caused you to lose your items after being eliminated in the transition between aboveground and belowground.
• The durability of non-Rare/non-Epic tools and weapons has increased by 30%. For Rare/Epic tools and weapons, the durability has increased by 60%.
• Reduced the damage of the Brute’s Poison area for all three Brutes.
• Reduced the damage of the Frost Scorpion explosion.
• Sand Scorpions, Scorpions found in caves, regular Scorpions, Crabs on the shoreline, Sand Spiders, and Alpine Frost Spiders are now slightly easier to defeat.
• Rams now drop Heavy Wool.
• Grapplers now hold 30 charges.
• Spiders won't jumpscare you as often when turning over rocks.
• The max stack size is now 50.
