Everything You Need to Know About World Series of Warzone 2023

The fun begins later this month.

The gaming world is buzzing with excitement as the World Series of Warzone (WSOWTM) 2023 is set to commence this April. This year's tournament promises to be the biggest yet for the Call of Duty: Warzone competitive scene, with over $1 million in prize money up for grabs.

What's more, the competition will be open to players from all corners of the globe, not just North America and Europe. This move is expected to make the tournament even more competitive and exciting, as players from diverse backgrounds and regions showcase their skills on the world stage.

What is the Format and Schedule for World Series of Warzone 2023

The World Series of Warzone 2023 season is set to feature a new format, new regions, and a live in-person finale, as announced by Activision. The season will be broken up into two stages, and will include a Last Chance Qualifier for North America and Europe.

The first and second stages of the WSOW season will feature an In-Game Open, where anyone can compete, a Qualifier, and a Final. The Final of each stage will include $150,000 in prizing for each region, and will be streamed live on the official Call of Duty channel.

The WSOW Stage I will kick off with the WSOW Trios playlist on April 27 at 10 AM PT, where Trios will play on a special WSOW Trios Playlist in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and attempt to put up their best 10 matches before 2 PM PT on April 30. The top 50 Trios in each region will advance to the Qualifiers in May, where they will play in a special five-map, custom lobby series with WSOW scoring.

The WSOW Stage I Finals will take place at the end of May, where the top 25 Trios in each region will automatically secure a place in their region's WSOW Stage II Finals. The bottom 25 Trios will still qualify for the WSOW Stage II Qualifiers.

WSOW Stage II will take place in June and July with a similar format. The top 15 Trios in each regional Stage II Final will qualify for the WSOW Global Final. The bottom 35 Trios will be joined by 15 Trios invited by Activision in the Last Chance Qualifiers, to be held in late July.

The WSOW Global Final will be held in September, and will see the top 50 Trios in the world battle it out in a six-map, custom lobby series with WSOW scoring. The winning Trio will be crowned the best Warzone Trio in the world, and will take home a prize of half a million dollars.

In addition to the new format, the WSOW 2023 season will feature new regions, with eligible countries and a breakdown of what countries apply to each region to be found in the official full WSOW rules.

How Do You Compete in World Series of Warzone 2023?

The WSOW Stage I Open on GameBattles is just around the corner, with the public Playlist set to go live on the last weekend of April. Players from around the world are gearing up for this exciting event and preparing to battle it out for a spot in the Global Final in June.

To participate, Trios need only to sign up on the GameBattles platform and track their progress using the WSOW In-Game Open Leaderboard, which will be launched during Season 03. Even if a player can't compete during the public Playlist weekend, they can still practice and hone their skills in Ranked Play, which will be available later in-Season.

For those unfamiliar with WSOW scoring, players earn WSOW Points for every elimination they make, with their score multiplied by their placement in the match.

  • First place comes with a 2x WSOW Point Multiplier
  • 2nd–5th place earns a 1.8x multiplier
  • 6th–10th place earns a 1.6x multiplier
  • 11th–20th place earns a 1.4x multiplier
  • 21st–35th place earns a 1.2x multiplier
  • 36th–50th place earns a 1x multiplier

Those who watched the Call of Duty Endowment Bowl earlier this year already have a head start in understanding how WSOW is scored. Moreover, players might even find themselves in the same lobby as service members and influencer captains who participated in the previous WSOW In-Game Open. So, sign up now and get ready to show off your skills on the battlefield!

What Are the Rules for World Series of Warzone 2023?

According to the WSOW rules, Stage I In-Game Open and Qualifier settings will be governed by WSOW regulations, which is a modified version of a standard Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 match. Notably, the WSOW ruleset prohibits the use of turreted vehicles and the Heavy Chopper, which was introduced in Season 03. Additionally, in-match events like Fire sales, Jailbreaks, Restocks, and Champions Quests are not allowed.

After the launch of Warzone Ranked mode, all subsequent WSOW competitions, including the Stage I Finals, will utilize the Warzone Ranked competitive settings.

All participants in WSOW Qualifiers, Finals, and Last Chance Qualifiers will be required to stream their gameplay in order to maintain competitive integrity. Participants may be asked to implement a stream delay or other configurations, such as frame rate and resolution, as outlined by WSOW administration, and the streaming must be done on either Twitch, YouTube, or Facebook.

To advance beyond the In-Game Open, participants must meet several requirements. They must be located in an eligible country, be over 18 years old, be able to stream gameplay on Twitch, Facebook Gaming, or YouTube, and register their team on GameBattles. All participant accounts will be checked to ensure they are in good standing.

Furthermore, participants will need to pass an extensive Activision security check to confirm that their Activision accounts are in good standing. RICOCHET Anti-Cheat, which includes server-side tools that monitor analytics to identify cheating, enhanced investigation processes, and more, will also be used to combat cheating. Participants who violate competitive integrity standards will be banned from all future Activision-sponsored Warzone events and may face further consequences. Additionally, participants must maintain good standing with any current or future World Series of Warzone program partners.
