Dive into the Action: Overwatch 2's Talantis Map Takes Players on an Underwater Adventure

Sometimes, the players really do make the game.

Overwatch fans, get ready to jump into the deep end with the newest limited-time map, Talantis!  This map was born from a Twitch livestream where developers teamed up with the community to create something never before seen within the game. During the stream, Senior Game Director Aaron Keller, Art Director Dion Rogers, and Community Manager Andy Belford took suggestions from viewers to build a one-of-a-kind, non-canon Control map.

Of course, like most things left up to the community, the entire map is an enjoyable deathtrap. It is loaded with jump pads and an elevator that allows players to choose up to five different ways to approach the control point.

The map-making process usually takes months of collaboration from different teams, but the developers managed to create the map's general concept in just a few hours during the stream. To add to the underwater theme, they included thematic lighting, giant fish, and waterfalls from the leaky dome of the city, giving off a really cool 'Lost City of Atlantis' vibe.

One of the most exciting things about the Talantis map is how it encourages players to experiment with new tactics and playstyles. Heroes with knockbacks like Lucio and Pharah will have unique advantages to boop targets nearly everywhere on the battlefield, but they can be easily chased down if players aren't careful. The paths below also allow for easy flanking and sneaking up on opponents.
