Destiny 2 update 3.0.1.2 reverts Warlock Shadebinder nerfs, more

Bungie walks back previous nerfs to Warlock Shadebinder and increases charging rate of Cryptolith Lure.

It seems that the recent ‘under the hood’ changes to how Bungie is able to develop and deploy updates to Destiny 2 are beginning to come to fruition.

In the weeks following the release of Beyond Light the game has seen several updates aimed at bug fixes, quality of life changes, and balancing of the sandbox. This turnaround of weeks instead of the usual months wait for changes is a great step in the direction of increasing the overall health of the game.

This week has seen a new, and significant, hotfix to Destiny 2 with changes to the Cryptolith Lure, Warlock Shadebinder melee ability, and more.

Here are the main takeaways from this hotfix:

Season of the Hunt

  • Adjusted the Cryptolith Lure to allow players to charge it twice as fast.
  • Increased Cryptolith Lure charge cap from 3 to 5.

In the weeks following the start of Season of the Hunt it was a common complaint on social media that the balance between generating lures in core playlists, and actually using the lures in Wrathborn Hunts, was a little off. Players felt they were spending too much time in older content before they could jump back into the Seasonal content.

This above fix addresses this issue and will allow players to stay within the Season of the Hunt content for longer to grind for the weapons they are chasing. Check out our guide on some of the best perk rolls for these Season of the Hunt weapons.

Abilities

  • Penumbral Blast:
  • Projectile range increased by 37%.
  • Minimum distance to cast ranged melee reduced by 32%.
  • This allows you to throw the ranged melee closer to targets.

At the release of Beyond Light it was immediately recognized by the community that Stasis was extremely overpowered in the Crucible, especially the ranged Warlock melee ability ‘Penumbral Blast’. Bungie was quick to take action in nerfing this ability but many believed that they cut too deep. This above buff is aiming at developing a compromise between the overpowered release version of the ability with the weaker version that the game has had for the past few weeks.

In terms of actual numbers, the previous nerf to Penumbral Blast reduced the range from 28m to 16m. The above 37% range buff will bring the range of Penumbral Blast back up to a respectable 22m.

Here are the rest of the patch notes:
