Activision has revealed exciting new features for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. While the full release of the game is coming on November 10, the detailed new content in the reveal tell us a lot about the new Modern Warfare title. The story in Modern Warfare 3 will be an immediate follow-up to the last sequel. Captain Price and Task Force 141 will fight against an unprecedented danger. The main antagonist, Vladimir Makarov, is expanding his influence globally. Task Force 141 will engage in to defeat the enemy.

Open Combat Missions

Modern Warfare 3 brings Open Combat Missions (OCMs), placing even more importance on player decisions. You have a wide range of weapons, equipment, and tactics in Modern Warfare's single-player mode. However, in certain engagements, the game will offer you choices to pick the most suitable course of action.

Your approach to a fight will decide which OCM will suit you better. For instance, if you favor stealth tactics, you can opt for an Open Combat Mission (OCM) and pick a lights-out strategy. This involves using night-vision goggles and suppressed weapons to accomplish your goals. If you prefer a more direct approach, a different OCM can provide extra armor plates.

Activision included an interesting feature of Open Combat Missions that can adapt to your gameplay.

The developers have modernized the maps to adapt to the new technology, gameplay mechanics and modes.

The game will also introduce new modes like Cutthroat (a competitive 3v3v3 experience). A diverse array of features will be available upon launch. For instance, you can now play modes like Hardpoint and Kill Confirmed on Favela, which were not part of the original map lineup.

Apart from the Core, we will also see Battle Maps. These maps will have huge environments to support popular game modes like Ground War and Invasion. To top it off, a single huge war map will host the legendary War Mode, which was first introduced in 2017’s Call of Duty WWII.

Activision has revealed three new features making their way to Modern Warfare 3. These features will help in customization and gameplay.

Tac-Stance

Players can utilize the innovative Tactical Stance feature for effective breach and clear maneuvers, providing a middle ground between hip-firing and aiming down sights. Tac-Stance is great for moving in narrow spaces.

  • The operator shifts the weapon from the shoulder and adopts a canted firing position.
  • You can seamlessly switch between Tac-Stance and regular aiming down sights while in action.
  • Tac-Stance prioritizes enhanced mobility and handling over pinpoint accuracy.
  • A certain degree of firing spread is introduced, finding a balance between full ADS precision and hipfire spontaneity.
  • It suits aggressive, close-quarters combat scenarios.
  • By default, Tac-Stance is engaged during sliding maneuvers.

Evolving Loadouts

You will find new customization options in Create-a-Class with Modern Warfare 3. You can construct your loadout around gear, including gloves, tactical vests, boots, and other elements. This helps you to adjust various gameplay aspects to your preference.

After-Market Parts

We see changes to the Gunsmith with the introduction of After-Market Parts. More choices for customization will be available to players, allowing them to match their gameplay. After-Market Parts will allow players to customize their weapons, like turning a machine gun into a bullpup. Additionally, the new feature will introduce fresh avenues for progression and unlockable challenges.

Modern Warfare 3: Multiplayer Core Mechanics

Activision will try to employ the classic gameplay with Modern Warfare 3. They have introduced certain features to make it happen.

  • Map Voting is back, granting players more control over Multiplayer match selection.
  • The Classic Minimap Behavior is reinstated, showing red dots for enemy gunfire from unsuppressed weapons.
  • All chosen Perks are immediately available at the start of each match.
  • Selecting the Covert Sneakers Perk and the right footwear allows for silent movement.
  • The developers will increase the Core Multiplayer Health to 150, elongating the Time-to-Kill, while Hardcore mode remains unaffected.

Changes to Movement and Responsiveness

The changes to movement and responsiveness in the Modern Warfare 3 game will also sync well with the new gameplay. Here are the changes:

  • The new game will cancel slide animations. However, slide cancel will not reset Tactical Sprint.
  • During animations, such as reloading, you can perform partial Reload cancels to swiftly resume firing.
  • The process of mantling will speed-up, and you can execute a mantle while in a sprinting state.
  • Firing is possible both during and directly after performing a slide.
  • Tactical Sprint durations will become longer, with the specific duration varying based on the weapon in use.
  • Tactical Sprint’s energy will replenish while actively sprinting.

Modern Warfare 3: Multiplayer Carry Forward Feature

The Carry Forward feature created many headlines before the full global reveal. Here's a summary of what it brings to the table.

  • MW 2 weapons, attachments, and unlocks will continue to be available in MW 3.
  • New attachments will seamlessly work with existing global Weapon Platforms.
  • "Universal" MW 2 attachments, like certain Muzzles, can be added to the new iteration's weapons when suitable.
  • Some MW 2 weapons in MW 3 can utilize unlocked MW 3 attachments as well, where appropriate.
  • We will see More Weapon Platforms for certain categories, developing customization options by enabling core attachments on some MW 2 weapons.

Modern Warfare 3: Zombies

Activision is introducing new features to fight Zombies in Modern Warfare 3. Here is the breakdown:

  • Players can now collaborate with multiple squads to battle massive zombie hordes in the largest-ever Call of Duty Zombies map.
  • Modern Warfare Zombies introduces an intricate Dark Aether Zombies narrative within the game.
  • Players can take on escalating missions across various regions, growing in complexity, featuring Zombies elements, and hidden surprises.
  • A survival challenge in an open-world player versus enemy (PvE) environment, facing off against formidable enemies in the game.

That concludes our explanation of all the features and gameplay changes in the global reveal of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.
