VCT Masters Tokyo: China Preview

Attacking Soul Esports and Edward Gaming look to make an impression.

One of the most prestigious events in VALORANT Esports, VCT Masters, is just around the corner. This tournament brings together the finest teams from across the globe to compete for the title of the best in the world.

Masters will feature two teams from China: Edward Gaming and Attacking Soul Esports. One of them is no stranger to the international stage, while the other will experience its first international event.

Edward Gaming's rise to prominence in China can be traced back to earlier local tournaments like FGC Invitational, where EDG cemented their position as the best. Last season, Edward Gaming came in to Champions as the singular undefeated team in the tournament, that alone speaks volumes of this team. Within the confines of China, Edward Gaming are kings. Yet, when the gaze turns towards international competitions, Edward Gaming's stellar performance seems to perish. Edward Gaming's entire international appearances were losses, which serves as motivation for them.

Edward Gaming earned their spot in Masters through FGC Invitational Act One, where this team found a rival at last: Attacking Souls Esports. EDG faced off against ASE in the Grand Finals of the tournament, where EDG was handed a tough loss. Despite the loss, both teams secured spots in Masters. Attacking Souls Esports went in to participate in FGC Invitational Act Two, where Edward Gaming managed to even the score with them.

Edward Gaming will be looking to start a new page in international events and turn their fortunes.

ZmjjKK is the highlight of EDG, who is considered as the best Chinese VALORANT talent. He will attempt to help EDG turn their fortunes and make a successful run in Masters.

Attacking Soul Esports has risen through the ranks of the Chinese VALORANT scene, showcasing a combination of raw talent and meticulous strategic approach. While Edward Gaming has remained the dominant force in China, Attacking Soul Esports remains the single rival team to them. With both teams pushing each other to the limits, Attacking Souls Esports managed to one-up Edward Gaming in FGC Invitational Act One, then Edward Gaming settled the score. ASE's hunger to surpass Edward Gaming has fuelled a hunger for success, serving as motivation for continuous improvement.

But unlike Edward Gaming, this is Attacking Soul Esports first rodeo in the international stage. This inaugural international appearance present both a challenge and a chance to come on top and prove which Chinese team is better.

With other competing teams having more experience in international events than Attacking Soul Esports, expectations aren't set high for this team, which makes them the dark horse of VCT Masters.

Attacking Soul Esports' Life was one of the best rated talents throughout both acts of FGC. He will be looking to prove himself on the international stage, and lead ASE to the top.
