Crafting is a rich and involved aspect of V Rising and one that you start right off the bat. (See what I did there?) You’ll need to craft armor and weapons throughout the game to up your level and explore the high-level areas of the map. The questline quickly tells you to start building a castle and you’ll run into necessary materials that require refinement. Enter Crafting.
Don’t worry, I’m here to give you a few tips so you can hit the ground running and be a Master Craftsman in no time.
Every craft will start out with the basics - Lumber, Stone, Copper, and Sulfur. These are all relatively easy to find in the starting area, but you’re going to need a lot. I mean, a lot. You'll think “Ah, 800 stone is plenty.” Trust me, it’s not.
Using the correct tools to harvest will also get you more materials. Use axes on trees, clubs/maces on rocks and ore, and swords on plants. Another tip is to find Worker blood with a high percentage. Worker blood can get you a bonus to your yield by 10-30% depending on the quality of the blood.
Build yourself some chests (each small chest costs 150 lumber to build) and fill them up. You should also keep plant fibers. You’ll need them later. This is going to border on Building 101, but crafting and building are deeply entwined with each other in V Rising. You might not think much of where you put your castle right now, but you’ll run into space issues later when trying to find the perfect spot for your library. Every refinement station has an associated floor that reduces the material cost of production by 25%. The downside to this is in order to get the bonus, the entire room has to have that specific floor. You also get a +25% bonus for faster production time if the station is in an enclosed room meaning four walls (castle walls are 10 stone bricks and 6 planks each), a floor (materials vary by floor but all will require blood essence), and the magically appearing roof. Here’s a breakdown of all the floors and which stations are associated with them.
• Workshop Floor - Grinder, Sawmill, Woodworking Bench
• Forge Floor - Simple Workbench, Forge, Smithy, Anvil
• Alchemy Floor - Alchemy Table, Blood Press
• Tailor’s Floor - Tailoring Bench, Tannery, Loom
• Library Floor - Paper Press
• Jewelcrafting Floor (listed as the ‘Regulus’ Pattern in-game) - Jewelcrafting Bench, Gem Cutting Table
• Prison Floor - Prison Cell
• Crypt Floor - Servant Coffins
You can get by with one of each station initially, but you’ll want to build multiples to speed up the processing time. Some of the higher-tier materials you produce will take 2+ minutes to process. Splitting the job up will help you in the long run.Steadily working your way through the boss list in-game is the best way to learn crafting recipes. Not only do most of the bosses give you recipes after defeating them, you often find books in the areas surrounding the boss fight - either from drops or in chests. Much of the quest progression in the game depends on boss fights to move forward as you’ll need the crafting stations/recipes they unlock. The best tip I can share with you is to find a clan. Recipes learned on the Research stations - Research Table, Study, and Athenaeum - are shared within a clan. You have to go visit your clan mate's tables to learn anything new (it will be highlighted in a flashing yellow border). This also works if you know recipes they don’t. Interact with their table and it transfers any missing recipes to the table for them to learn!
Now that you know the basics, you're ready to conquer the crafting world with your newfound prowess. Hopefully, at the very least, you’ll have less panic material hunting.
