Every Vampire overlord knows that just building a castle and swinging a sword isn’t going to keep you on top in V Rising. You also need to be a master of the mystic arts and with so many abilities in V Rising it can be hard to get started. Look no further, here is your guide to every ability in V Rising. In V Rising there are three types of abilities, Weapon Abilities, Vampire Abilities, and magic based abilities.
Each of these has its own unique purposes and playstyles and can all fit different situations perfectly. You can set combinations of abilities in this specific fashion:
Three Weapon Abilities - This includes your basic attack, your “Copper Weapon” ability, and your “Iron Weapon” ability.
One Travel Ability - This is your dodge ability
Two Magic Abilities - These are two selectable magic abilities that you can choose from any magic skill tree.
One Ultimate Ability - This is your grand attack that typically has around a two to three-minute cooldown. These are going to be over-the-top attacks that really define how you play as a character.
Weapon abilities are unlocked fairly easily as you progress in V Rising. When you get your first weapon you will start with just the basic attack. For the sword, this is just swinging your sword.
However, as you progress in-game and level up your gear these weapons will gain new abilities. You will get your first ability when you get the copper version of a weapon, for the sword, this is the “Whirlwind” attack that you will see below. When you upgrade your sword to the Iron level you will gain its final ability “Shockwave”, also found below.
The details for these weapon abilities and the other weapon abilities can be found below if you are looking to theory craft your builds! Note: the first ability is the primary attack, the second one will be the one unlocked by Copper, and the third will be unlocked at Iron.
Primary AttackDescription: Perform a combo of melee attacks, dealing 35% / 35% / 40% physical damage.

Whirlwind
Description: Spin around and slice nearby enemies, dealing physical damage every 0.25s for 1.1s.
Cast Time: Instant

Shockwave
Description: Send forth a shockwave, dealing 70% physical damage and launching the enemy hit into the air for 1.6s. Recast the ability to teleport to the target, striking it three times. Each strike deals 25% physical damage.

Primary AttackDescription: Perform a combo of melee attacks, dealing 50% / 50% / 60% physical damage.
Cast Time: 0.35s
Crushing BlowDescription: Vault towards the cursor and slam your mace into the ground, dealing 110% physical damage and inflicting a 2s fading snare.
Cast Time: 0.7s
Cooldown: 8s
Smack
Description: Smack enemies in front of you, dealing 50% physical damage and knocking them back, incapacitating them for 1.2s.
Cast Time: 0.35s
Cooldown: 9s
Primary AttackDescription: Perform a combo of melee attacks, dealing 45% / 45% / 55% physical damage.
Cast Time: 0.25s
Frenzy
Description: Dash forward and strike the first enemy, dealing 100% physical damage. Enter a state of frenzy that increases your movement speed by 25% and increases attack speed by 30% for 0.8s on a successful hit.

X-Strike
Description: Throw two axes in the shape of an X. Each hit deals 85% physical damage and slows the enemy for 1.5s. Hitting the enemy where both axes intersect inflicts a 2s incapacitate.

Primary AttackDescription: Perform a combo of melee attacks, dealing 40% / 40% / 50% physical damage.
A Thousand SpearsDescription: Perform a multi-stab attack, dealing 30% physical damage 8 times. Recast during the effect to perform a thrust attack, dealing 30% physical damage and knocking enemies back.

Harpoon
Description: Throw a spear that deals 70% physical damage and pulls the enemy toward you.
Cast Time: 0.8s

Primary AttackDescription: Perform a combo of melee attacks, dealing 50% / 50% / 55% physical damage.

Tendon SwingDescription: Swing your reaper, dealing 125% physical damage to nearby enemies, knocking them back, and inflicting a 2s fading snare.
Cast Time: 0.2s

Howling ReaperDescription: Throw a howling reaper that spins in place, dealing 20% physical damage every 0.25s for 2.5s. The initial projectile hit slows enemies for 1.5s.

Primary AttackDescription: Perform a combo of melee attacks, dealing 27.5% / 27.5% / 35% physical damage.
Cast Time: 0.15s
Elusive StrikeDescription: Dash back and forth slashing at your enemies, dealing 60% physical damage and inflicting a 2s slow on each hit.

Camouflage
Description: Enter a state of camouflage, increasing movement speed by 25% for 3s. Your next primary attack deals 80% physical damage and incapacitates the enemy for 3s. Using any skill breaks camouflage.

Primary AttackDescription: Fire a projectile that deals 115% physical damage on hit.
Cast Time: 1s
Cooldown: 0.55s
Rain Of BoltsDescription: Fire a salvo of 5 bolts into the air that rains down on your enemies, dealing 40% physical damage each in an area and inflicts a 1.5s fading snare.
Cast Time: 0.4s
Cooldown: 8s
Snapshot
Description: Fires a quick bolt that deals 75% damage, interrupts casts, and inflicts a 2s fading snare.
Cast Time: 0.3s
Cooldown: 8s
These abilities are less about combat and more about supporting your character to do different unique things in game. While most of these abilities are centered around transforming into different creatures, and old grandma’s, they are still useful for other specific niches. Wolf FormTurn into a swift creature, increasing your movement speed by 45%. Taking damage breaks the effect.Bear FormTurn into a powerful creature able to destroy massive resources. Increases your resistances by 25, movement by 15%, and reduces damage taken by 25%. You regenerate health slightly quicker while in this form.Human FormTurn into a human, allowing you to sneak around unnoticed in human settlements. Be careful though: the strong-willed can see through your disguise. While in human form you can interact with traders. Human form greatly increases blood consumption rate.Rat FormTurn into a small rat and blend into the environment, making it harder for enemies to detect you. Taking damage breaks the effect.Toad FormTurn into a toad, able to jump into the air. Taking damage breaks the effect.Bat FormTurn into a bat and fly high into the air, allowing you to cross impassable terrain. Cannot be used while carrying resources, while indoors, and requires a valid landing location when exiting the form. Expose VeinLower your guard and allow other vampires to drink your blood. Splits your blood pool in half as you share your blood and blood type with another vampire.Blood MendConsume 0.2 liters of blood per second to recover 4% of your maximum health.Blood HungerAllows you to instantly recognize the blood type and blood quality of nearby enemies.Magic Abilities are the bread and butter of being a Vampire in V Rising. With so many different routes to take you can mix and match various abilities to suit your desires and playstyle. Here is what they all do!
Blood Magic is mostly used to absorb attacks and heal yourself and allies. This is also the first tree of abilities you will unlock.
Basic AbilitiesBlood RageShield yourself and nearby allies for 110% of your spell power and increase attack speed by 25% for 4.5.Blood RiteBlock melee and projectile attacks for 1.5s. Blocking an attack heals you for 30% of your spell power and triggers a wave of energy that pushes enemies away, dealing 100% magic damage. Turn non-material for 1.2s when this effect triggers.Crimson AegisApply a shield to target ally or self that shields the target for 200% of your shield power. Knocks nearby enemies back when the shield is applied.Sanguine CoilShadowbolt

Travel Ability
Veil Of BloodDash towards input direction and elude nearby enemies for 2.2s. Your next primary attack deals 25% bonus damage and heals you for 5% of your maximum health.Ultimate Abilities
Crimson BeamChannel a beam of energy that deals 150% magic damage to enemies hit, and heals allies for 100% of your spell power per second for up to 4s. Each target hit heals self for 25% of your spell power.Heart StrikeDash forward and strike enemies in a line. Deals 150% magic damage and heals self for 150% of your spell power over 3.5s. A nova of blood erupts when the effect ends, dealing 150% magic damage to the victim and nearby enemies.Unholy magic mostly seek to Amplify your attacks which make your attacks do 25% damage against enemies affected by this status effect.

Launch a wave of 3 unholy projectiles that each deal 40% magic damage, knocks the target back, and inflicts Amplify that increases damage taken by 25% for 5s.Purgatory
Call down a pillar of energy that slows enemies in an area for 1s and heals allies for 40% of your spell power. After 1.2s, the pillar erupts in a powerful burst of energy, dealing 75% magic damage to enemies and healing allies for 75% of your spell power.Unstable MosquitoSummon a mosquito that chases an enemy and explodes after 1s. Deals 60% magic damage in an area and inflicts Amplify that increases damage taken by 25% for 5s.Ward Of The DamnedIncreases movement speed by 10% and block melee and projectile attacks in front of you for 2s. Veil Of BonesDash towards input direction and elude nearby enemies for 2.2s. Your next attack launches a projectile that deals 25% magic damage, bouncing up to 4 targets and inflicts Amplify that increases damage taken by 25% for 5s.Ultimate Ability
Summon Fallen AngelSummons a fallen angel to fight for you for 15s. Attacks made by the fallen angel inflict Amplify that increases damage taken by 25% for 5s.Volatile ArachnidSummons spiderlings that chase down your enemy and explode when nearby, dealing 100% magic damage. Spawns a toxic fume that deals 20% magic damage every 0.8s while slowing enemies by -25%. Can be recast up to 3 times.Illusion Magic likes to summon creatures to fight for you and applies the status effect Weaken which makes enemies deal 30% less damage
Basic Attacks
Mist TranceBlock melee and projectile attacks for up to 1.5s. Turn non-material and teleport to the cursor location when an attack is blocked. Resets the cooldown of your Secondary Weapon attack.Spectral AssassinSummon a Spectral Assassin at a target location that performs a heavy melee attack, dealing 125% magic damage to nearby enemies, knocking them back, and Weakening them. Weakened targets deal 30% less damage for 5s. Spectral Assassin lasts for up to 6s.Spectral Wolf Send out a spectral wolf that deals 100% magic damage, inflicts a fading snare, and Weakens the target, reducing damage output by 30% for 5s. It bounces to a nearby enemy after each hit, up to 2 hits. Each hit deals 75% less damage.Wisp DanceSummons three wisps that circle around you, dealing 25% magic damage to enemies. Recast to launch all three wisps as projectiles, dealing 50% magic damage and Weakening the target, reducing damage output by 30% for 5s.Travel Ability
Veil Of IllusionDash towards input direction and elude nearby enemies for 2.2s. Your next primary attack deals 25% bonus damage. Spawns an illusion that throws projectiles that deal 40% magic damage. Recast to return to your start position and spawn a new illusion at your current location.Ultimate Abilities
Mirror StrikeDash forward and bounce between nearby enemies, striking them for a total of 600% magic damage split across targets within the area over 3s. Weakens targets hit by 30% for 5s. Afterward, dash toward your aim direction. Recast to end this effect early.Spectral GuardianSummons a Spectral Guardian that shields allies in an area for 125% of your spell power and attacks enemies with a mighty swing. This shield is reapplied every 1.5s. The golem lasts for 7s.Think of Chaos magic like the "Fire" tree in V Rising. This set of abilities likes to apply burn damage over time.

Smash the ground, causing a shockwave that erupts, dealing 100% magic damage in a line and inflicting Chaos Burn.Chaos BarrierIncrease movement speed by 10% and block melee and projectile attacks in front of you for 2s. Blocking an attack launches a projectile towards the attacker, dealing 75% damage, pulling the target towards you, and inflicting Chaos Burn.Chaos VolleyLaunch 2 Chaos Bolts in sequence that deal 125% magic damage and inflict Chaos Burn.Power Surge Remove all negative effects and apply a shield on target ally or self that shields the target for 150% of your spell power. Increases movement speed by 25% and attack speed by 25% while the shield lasts.Void
Summon an orb that explodes at the target location, dealing 70% magic damage and inflicting Chaos Burn.Travel Ability
Veil Of ChaosDash towards input direction and elude nearby enemies for 2.2s. Your next melee attack deals 25% bonus damage. Can be recast to dash once more, spawning a second illusion. Your illusions explode, dealing 50% magic damage to nearby enemies.Ultimate Ability
Chaos BarrageLaunch 4 Chaos Orbs that deal 75% magic damage on direct hit, dealing 75% magic damage to enemies in the area while inflicting Chaos Burn.Merciless ChargeCharge forward and grab an enemy, dealing 125% magic damage, and push them in front of you. Deals 100% magic area damage and inflicts a Stun lasting 1.5s when reaching maximum range or when colliding with another enemy or object.Frost Magic applies a Chill effect to enemies which allows you to set them up to be frozen once they are hit again.
Basic Abilities
Crystal LanceLaunch a projectile, dealing 150% magic damage and inflicting Chill. Hitting a chilled enemy freezes it for 4s. The Crystal Lance splinters into a nova of projectiles on impact, each splinter dealing 50% damage, chilling or freezing targets as well. Enemy vampires are frozen for 2.5s.Frost BarrierIncrease movement speed by 10% and block melee and projectile attacks in front of you for 2s. Spawn up to 8 waves of frost, dealing 50% magic damage and inflicting Chill when the barrier is struck.Frost BatLaunch a projectile that explodes upon impact, dealing 100% magic damage and inflicts Chill on surrounding enemies. Hitting a chilled enemy freezes it for 4s. Enemy vampires are frozen for 2.5s.Ice NovaSummon a nova of ice at the target location, dealing 100% magic damage and freezing any enemy already affected by Chill for 4s. The nova radiates outward, inflicting Chill for 5s to any enemy hit. Enemy vampires are frozen for 2.5s.Travel Ability
Veil Of FrostDash towards input direction, elude nearby enemies for 2.2s, and shield self for 125% of your spell power. Your next primary attack deals 25% bonus damage and conjure a nova of frost, dealing 50% magic damage and inflicting Chill on nearby enemies.Ultimate Ability
Arctic LeapLeap into the air and strike down at the target location, dealing 225% magic damage. A nova of frost erupts from the impact location, freezing any enemy hit for up to 6s. Enemy vampires are frozen for 3s.Frost VortexConjure a frost storm that deals 100% magic damage and pulls enemies toward the center.
