Season 9 introduced a new visual cue when a shot depletes your health or shield. Players are finding it a bit confusing, and Epic agrees.
Season 9 brought several controversial changes into Fortnite. Epic vaulted the pump, added a new shotgun and didn't change the Drum Gun at all.
One of the minor changes they made to the game was the way players lose health and shield when they take a shot. Health has always depleted more dramatically than shield, making a shot that hit you for "white" feel a lot more devastating than a shield tag.
Now, though, health and shield bars deplete in the same way. They both take a red chunk off of your total HP before draining to the new total - similar to the way a lot of fighting games signify damage.
This change is confusing and makes a 12 shield tag feel like a 140 chunk. Players have been complaining about this since Season 9 launched, and Epic developers apparently agree.
Epic developer DanDaDaDanDan replied to a post on Reddit which was complaining about the new change. He agreed that the same color for both shield and health is confusing, and said that the team is working on an adjustment.
So, we should see this health bar change in the upcoming patch or the next one.
Most players agree that a small tap of shield now feels like getting lasered. There will be a bit of an adjustment period, but an alteration to this new red bar would be most welcome.
